Make a date to visit the Museum of Modern Art in the capital of the worldNew York City.

“Ever wonder what you could see when you visit the Museum of Modern Art? There are hundreds, if not thousands, of cool artwork that are available for viewing. The Museum of Modern Art tries to carry pieces that are from some of the most well known artists from around the world. It is not uncommon to visit this museum in NYC and see paintings, sculptures, and drawings from China, Japan, India, and Germany.

In addition to the eclectic mix of well known paintings and sculptures, there are art pieces from those that are not so well known. The Museum of Modern Art has an entire staff that is dedicated to traveling the world, looking for new, aspiring artists, sculptors, and painters. They will often invite them to have several pieces displayed in this NYC museum.” – from CoolArtwork.org.

Art turns us into children again.  By looking, we gaze; by gazing, we are drawn into the soul of a painting or piece of art and it elicits feelings within us.  It is amazing how an artist can move us emotionally and share his or her feelings about a thing through their creation.

African drummers held the spiritual obligation to move their people.  Whether it was times of war, times of planting, or harvest, births, or simply to offer praise and thanksgiving to the ancestors and God, they did so.  And they moved the people to give praise or thanks through the rhythms and the tones of the drums.  They knew which tones created the affect that was needed for each occasion. This information was handed down from master to student.  And, as the student became the master, he would pass it on to his students.  This has happened for hundreds of years and continues.

Physical creations in the form of paintings and three dimensional art has an affect on the observer.  We like it, we don’t like it, it moves us, it doesn’t move us…  There are some pieces that we could stare at forever and want to be a part of.  Have you ever felt that?  Have you ever looked into a scenery or a piece and wished you were there?  The picture was a must-have because you wanted to be a part of it?   That is why art hangs on our walls and sits on our shelves because we want to be a part of it.  We like the way it makes us feel.

The Museum of Modern Art, or “MOM” is a great place to spend a lot of time or a little time.  But, if you don’t allow a lot of time, you will have to return, because the art will continue to call to you and you will need to see much of it.  It’s a great place to visit with family and friends. There are literally thousands of pieces and rotating exhibits from all over the world.   And, it can never be emphasized enough to bring children to art galleries and to musical events.  Art is life and for young people to be able to participate in it, whether that participation is active as a practitioner or an observer, it will open their lives and their minds to a galaxy of imagination and beauty that they will not know otherwise and will regret that they did not know when they find out!

If you love art, you love life.  Teach the love of life and see art.
