Did you make a list of resolutions and things that you want to accomplish at the beginning of 2009?
Are you able to check some things off of your list?
How’s your year-end summary looking?
I look back and see how I’ve used the precious time I was given and I’m not totally happy with myself. Yes, I’ve accomplished some things, but I can clearly see all the places where I went off coure. When you’re in the midst of doing and you’re not fully focused on specific goals and things that you want to accomplish, then you’re just doing things. Very much like treading water – all you do is stay afloat, you don’t actually go anywhere.
My list this time around is crystal clear and I’ve promised myself not to get so sidetracked with other things that I don’t accomplish what’s important to me.
One of the things I have to do is to be a little more selfish. I devote a lot of time to helping other people with their projects and thus end up leaving little time for my own. So, I’ll put me first going forward. I’m also going to let go of one of my businesses. It’s a painful choice, but one I feel I really have to make.
How about you? What are you going to do? Tread water or swim to a destination?
