– Ramon Morant

You grew up in a musical household – your Mom’s a professional classical pianist.  Was that the thing that drove you to music?

My early exposure to classical music is what kind of jump-started my ears, I believe I learned to love melody, listening to her practice and teach.

She also had me playing violin as a toddler then piano.  I took up trumpet in junior high school band.  Around 15 or 16 I heard all these great guitar bands and I was hooked on 6 strings.

What was the main thing that got you into music?

The record deal I had with Columbia Records.  I got 12 for a $1 then I only had to buy one a month for a year. I was hooked on vinyl after that.

What is music to you?  What purpose does it serve in your life?

Music is supposed to be fun.  Great music is also joyous and emotional. I remember crying the first time I saw B.B. King live, I must have been 17 or 18 years old.   Fortunately I’ve been blessed to be able to make a little money doing it as well.
