I am going to introduce to my friends, fans and family my studio musician, Oran Gipson.  Oran was born into a musical family in Carthage, Texas.  His father,   “James Gipson “plays a mean guitar in the style of Chuck Berry and to me he sort a features Chuck.  James, “Gip”, as he is called taught all of his children to play instruments of music.  Oran and his brothers learned to play lead guitar,  bass guitar, keyboard and drums early in life.    James Gipson also taught his daughter to play the guitar.  All of his children are multitalented often swapping out instruments during a performance.  I have used all of them at one time or another during my music career often getting Willie Joe and Oran to play in my band or on my CD’S.  I prefer Oran because he is so versatile and has those long magical fingers that can play any kind of music a man could want.  He specializes in blues following the tradition of his idol, Stevie Ray Vaughn.  Internet readers, I present, Oran Gipson!!!!

Oran Gipson was born May 25, 1970, he is the youngest of four sons and one sister born to Lorene and James Gipson. James began teaching Oran to pick a guitar at the age of three because every time he left the house, Oran would mess with his guitar. It would take him a while to get Oran to give up his guitar so he bought Oran his very on pine box and began his guitar lessons. By the age of ten he began playing in clubs around the Dallas, Texas area with his father known as Dallas Texas Slim and his brothers, Willie Joe and Joe Edward.

Oran has played with many musicians such as, Denise La’Salle, Blues Boy Willie, Sonny Mac, and the Jam City Revue Blues Band fronted by non other than, yours truly, Bobbie Mercy Oliver The Texas Blues King. He was inspired by his father first and secondly his inspiration came from, Stevie Ray Vaughn. Oran and company had the honor of opening for legendary B.B. King at The Longhorn Bar in Dallas, Texas.

Oran is presently the studio musician for Bobbie Mercy Oliver. He can be heard clearly playing lead guitar on his CD’S, Mississippi Mudd and Simply Bobbie. I am working on my new CD, “Sleepin With The Dawg’s” and Oran will be doing the lead on it. Oran has his own CD, “Empty Cup of Love” produced by me in my studio in 2006. You can check out his music style on http://www.myspace.com/gipband.

Oran’s grandfather taught his son, James to play guitar and James taught all of his children to play guitar and they learned to play other instrumentation on their own admonition. Oran’s father, James, is 75 years of age and still cutting a rug and playing these blues, it’s in him, it’s got to come out.
